What is a VRV Air Conditioning System?

A VRV system air conditioner is the most energy efficient way to bring the comfort of conditioned air to your family home, office complex or multi-level building. It is the system widely chosen by large hotels, hospitals and multi-level buildings housing a large number of occupants.

The VRV system, meaning Variable Refrigerant Volume or Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) regulates the flow of refrigerant according to the temperature of the space to be cooled.

Comprising an outdoor unit and an indoor unit, the VRV system is able to provide air at a consistent and comfortable temperature to the space to be cooled or heated. By varying the refrigerant flow and maintaining an air temperature within a close range, a steady room temperature is reached more rapidly and with less energy.

One outdoor VRV unit can serve one or many indoor units or several outdoor units can be coupled to serve many indoor units depending on the building type, function and number of occupants.

One critical component that enables it to work successfully is the Digital Thermal Expansion (DTE) valve. This valve senses the refrigerant gas temperature flowing in the circuit and maintains air, that is entering the room, is delivered at a constant temperature generally within +/-0.5° of the set temperature.

The other important feature of the VRV system is the “Inverter” compressor. The compressor self-regulates its workload according to signals from the DTE valve. The compressor supplies sufficient refrigerant to keep the room temperature at a constant level with the added benefit of reducing cyclical energy demand with associated fluctuating energy requirements.

Why choose a VRV Air Conditioning for you home?

A VRV system air conditioner is much quieter and is automatically responsive to applied heat loads from changing air temperature characteristics or increased occupant numbers.

  • More consistent comfort levels for all occupants within a given work space
  • Ability to independently vary comfort levels in different zones
  • Maintains a close temperature range and a more consistent energy demand
  • Energy costs are may be optimised using a reverse cycle heat recovery function. This allows heat to be removed from high solar loaded areas to other parts of the same building that may otherwise require supplemental heating

How can we help find the best VRVl air conditioning system for you?

The most suitable VRV system for your use depends on a number of factors including the building function, internal volume, number of doors and windows and the number of anticipated occupants.

We, at Alliance Climate Control can design a system to meet your needs, bringing together the best products from VRV technology.

We will visit your site or work with your architectural team to determine the best mix of outdoor and indoor units, whether it be a family residence, hospital or multi-level, multi-function building.
