Can I install a split system myself?
No. Installing a split system involves handling refrigerant and electrical work, which by law needs to be done by a licensed, Arctick-certified technician to guarantee safety and legal compliance.
Do split systems use a lot of electricity?
Split systems are generally energy efficient, especially units from reputable brands. Because they only condition the room they're in rather than the whole home, they're usually a cost-effective way to heat or cool.
Do electricians install split systems?
An electrician can handle the electrical component, but the full installation, including refrigerant handling, needs a licensed air conditioning technician.
Is a split system cheaper to run than ducted?
Generally yes, especially if you're only conditioning one or two rooms rather than the whole home. Ducted systems cost more to run when zoning isn't used well, but cover far more space.
