Floor console systems are similar to split systems however the indoor unit is placed closer to the floor. These are useful for situations where upper wall space is limited, or the positioning is preferable for airflow or aesthetics. They can also be recessed into the wall, located below a window or even installed in an unused fireplace for maximum space economy. In some cases, in modern buildings, much of the wall space is made up glass windows or where wall space is reserved for the display of artwork, a floor mounted console is a clever HVAC solution.

Modern floor systems are slim and well designed and come in a range of capacities and with all the functionality of a standard split system. They are remote controlled and can have louvres which swing to ensure optimal air distribution.
